WordPress OBJ in Text Editor Header

WordPress: How to Delete ‘OBJ’ From Posts

Sometimes WordPress will display an ‘OBJ’ object in posts. This strange ‘OBJ’ usually is caused by copying and pasting text into the WordPress editor from a browser, rich-text editor, or other editor that may produce strange characters that the WordPress editor doesn’t recognize.

Simply deleting the ‘OBJ’ doesn’t work in most cases. When you save the post again, the ‘OBJ’ will often return to the same spot it was in before.

The best way to delete these ‘OBJ’ objects from your posts is to copy and paste the entire block of text into a basic text editor, then copy and paste it back into the WordPress editor.

  • In the WordPress editor, select the entire paragraph or block of text to highlight it.
  • Do one of the following based on your device:
    • Windows and Linux users press Control + X.
    • Mac users press Command + X.
    • Mobile device users tap and hold the highlighted text, then choose Cut.
  • Open a text editor such as Notepad or Text Edit. You can also use a web-based text editor such as the one Rapidtables offers.
  • Paste the text into the text editor. You can do this by clicking anywhere into the text editor, then following steps based on your device:
    • Windows and Linux users press Control + V.
    • Mac users select Command + V.
    • Mobile device users tap and hold anywhere in the text editor then select Paste.

Now we want to copy the text back out of the text editor so that we can copy it back into the WordPress editor.

  • In the text editor, select all of the text.
  • Do one of the following based on your device:
    • Windows and Linux users press Control + X.
    • Mac users press Command + X.
    • Mobile device users tap and hold the highlighted text, then choose Copy.
  • Paste the text back into the WordPress editor. Perform the following steps based on your device:
    • Windows and Linux users press Control + V.
    • Mac users select Command + V.
    • Mobile device users tap and hold anywhere in the WordPress editor then select Paste.
